With this more than deceitful name, the English group Viking Skull does not play folk/pagan metal but a mix of old school heavy metal and stoner coming right from the 70s with rock’n’roll and bluesy influences, a style that we could approach from the Black Label Society or Spiritual Beggars ones. «Doom, Gloom, Heartache & Whiskey » is an album with heavy and powerful riffs, sometimes repetitive, very often low but there are three guitars in the group, it sounds rather dirty, raw, well “bally” would say some …
Roddy Stone’s vocals are dirty, hoarse and go well with this style. To note the Nazareth cover
« Hair Of The Dog ». The last track “Drink” can be taken out of the lot because it is a more than 6 minute one with piano.
To be short an album which smells whiskey, beer and tobacco.

Line up :
Roddy Stone (chant/guitare) (vocals/guitars)
The Brandywine Eel (guitare) (guitars)
Dom (guitare) (guitars)
Waldie (basse) (bass)
Jess Margera (batterie) (drums)
