At least comes the new album from Yann Armellino, « Gimme The Sound »!!! Yann’s last album (besides C.L.A.F.F.) “Cross-Rocks” was from 2004. For this album, this collaboration rather, Yann called the French singer (living in the States) Chris Caron. The style of this album is rather bluesy rock. Chris’s voice goes pretty well with the style of the songs and in good harmony with the guitars. A melodic, right and well at place voice that he rather well modulates.
The tracks are melodic on the vocals lines as well as on the guitars lines. The tracks are sometimes mid tempos like among others, « I Remember Yesterday » or « I Just Wish I Could Be Home », other times faster and well rhythmic like for example « It’s A Nightmare Every Morning ».
To note two prestigious guests in this album, the first one Patrick Rondat gives us the solo in
« After The Hour » and Gildas Arzel in « Armorik’n’Roll ».
This album contains instrumentals « Oversea », « Isle Of Jura » et « Armorik’n’Roll ».
All being a guitar player who knows to be very technique, Yann does not make “display” of it in these tracks, it is musicality and melody which is here the most important, which does not mean that the soli are not technique!!! Moreover we have mixes between passages at acoustic guitars and electric guitars ones.
« Gimme the sound » is an album with which you’ll have pleasant listening moments; furthermore a tour seems to be prepared for September 2008.
